This is the seventeenth chapter of the Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana manga.
Full Summary[]
Knight of Diamonds' party shouts asking them to make way and rushes by without further word. From what the guard said about their party heading to the second floor, Captain and Half-Elf Scout deduce that Knight of Diamonds was also fighting the scruffy men. Half-Elf Scout questions if they should call off their mission if the scruffy men are that dangerous. Captain says no, they shouldn't as the scruffy men should also be weakened after battling Knight of Diamonds party, making this the best time to strike and finish them off for good. Female Wizard remarks that he makes it sound like just another monster hunt, and Myrmidon Monk opines that their target is no longer any different from monsters.
The party makes their way through the first floor, troubled by nothing worse than Female Warrior's most hate monster slimes, and Female Bishop's most hated monster goblins. Eventually they arrive at the "stairwell" down, which consists of a large pit ringed by a spiral staircase - most of which has given out. Ladders provide the actual access down. Despite the pit looking bottomless, after some discussion and banter they climb down the ladders without incident. After a little more banter, they begin their explanation of the second floor and their search for the scruffy men's lair begins in earnest.
Captain reiterates what he said before about how the scruffy men must have been significantly hurt in battle with Knight of Diamonds and they can't give them time to recover or move their base. Yet privately he can't help but worry about the possibility that their foe was so strong they weren't injured and in that case it could spell the end of their adventure. Nevertheless they press on. As Female Bishop works on mapping, Captain notes that goblins aren't supposed to show up on the second floor. She's glad of that, but can't help but remember they still exist on the first floor. To which Captain agrees saying that since monsters in the dungeon spring up endlessly, the only way to get rid of every last goblin in the dungeon is to confront The Death on the bottom floor.
The party continues bantering as they travel onward until they encounter their first monsters of the second floor. Strange misty creatures that look like clouds yet clearly have some degree of sentience. As the battle begins they discover that slashes and stabs work but are only minimally effective. While the clouds prove toxic and draining. Faced with a magical monster unlike anything on the first floor, Myrmidon Monk opts to using the miracle Silence.
