This is the twenty-second chapter of the Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana manga.
Full Summary[]
The party descends to the second floor down the now familiar ladders. As the party pauses for a moment to regroup, they note that they've been lucky enough to only need to deal with the monsters in chambers they needed to pass though so far. After a little bit of talk about conserving their magic, and Female Wizard and Female Bishop prodding Captain to study magic more, the party presses on.
Arriving at the first chamber on the floor that they need to pass through, Captain kicks open the door as usual and they find the monsters waiting for them inside are zombies. Myrmidon Monk and Female Bishop cast Dispel on them, but the zombies are more resilient than normal undead and endure it. Thus it falls to the front line of the party to defeat them with melee weapons. Female Warrior's spear proves the best weapon against them, while Captain gets a reminder that they need to be dismembered after one bites his gauntlet. Yet soon enough the monsters are dealt with and the rest of the party takes a short break while Half-Elf Scout unlocks the treasure chest. Female Wizard hands out some snacks she made, while Female Bishop rechecks the maps and Myrmidon Monk offers her advice for starting to map the third floor. Half-Elf Scout worries that they'll start encountering a lot more wall and floor traps down on the third floor, and the others agree that'd be consistent with the dungeon's creator.
Female Bishop wonders if they should have tried asking another group to show the party their map. Half-Elf Scout says there's no point as other parties will have risked their lives for that information and they're using it to earn a living, so of course they wouldn't show someone else. Captain thinks Knight of Diamonds might have been willing but that it might be unwise to make the request. He speaks up to point out that the other parties aren't their comrades or friends, that they've walked the dungeon themselves to make their map and asks Female Bishop if she'd give away their work for free. When she glumly replies no she wouldn't, he goes on to suggest that it'd be a different matter if everyone agreed which cheers her up.
With that settled, Female Warrior teases Captain a bit about his bad luck of his gauntlet being bitten. Recognizing she's just trying to break the tension a bit, but not enjoying being the one teased for a change, he calls for the party to move on. As such, the party continues onto the stairs down to the third floor - a square pit with tier upon tier of stairs lining the sides going down into the darkness.
