Hero (勇者, Yūsha) is a young girl who became a platinum-ranked adventurer after defeating the Demon Lord. Along with her party, she battles the Demon Lord's forces and other powerful threats. When in disguise, she goes by the rookie guise of "Spear Girl".

Appearance

Hero has dark cyan-colored eyes and long black hair, with a single strand pointed upward, decorated with a light blue headband with bows at the ends. She wears white robes along with silver chest-plate armor, gloves and boots. Hero's most noteworthy feature is that she is armed with a large holy sword that indicates her status as a hero.

In her "Spear Girl" rookie disguise, she wears green garbs and wields a spear as she is emulating Female Warrior.

In the Year One manga and the first season of the anime, she has dark red hair with apricot-colored eyes, and wears a yellow headband.

Personality

Hero is a brave, outgoing yet impulsive tomboy, shown when she deliberately gave away her party's location in favor of a bold introduction. Though she may come off as arrogant, her confidence is backed up by her extraordinary abilities and accomplishments, including the recent slaying of the Demon Lord, numerous members of the Evil Sect and other powerful Non-Prayer Characters.

In spite of these traits, Hero is a friendly individual towards her allies as well as fellow strangers. She is also wise enough to recognize Goblins as threatening and vicious creatures.

Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One

The Girl dreams of her future

As a child, she sneaked out of the orphanage to go play outside the village, much to the head nun's exasperation. She met Goblin Slayer outside the village when he first arrived and followed him around, asking him several questions while he was setting up defenses. Later, Goblin Slayer informed her in the night, that he had killed all the Goblins and that she was safe now. The Girl tried to help Goblin Slayer with his injuries but admitted the Abbess didn't have any healing Miracles, he told her he'd go to the Temple of the Earth Mother, and told her not to worry.

After heading to bed, she had a dream that she was a hero who held a holy sword in her hand.

Goblin Slayer Volume 1

Hero and her Party defeat the Demon Lord

While taking on a quest to kill Goblins in a cave, she found herself in the ancient ruins of a temple, where a general of the Demon Lord resided. Confronting the general after slaying his army of monsters, her sword broke when she attempted to stab him. Fortunately for her, she pulled out a powerful sword buried in a nearby pedestal and effortlessly killed the general. She went to make her quest report, where she learned there were more generals and the sword she wielded was a sword of light.

Following the guidance of this legendary weapon, she slayed the Demon Lord, which allowed her to become the tenth platinum-ranked adventurer.

Goblin Slayer Volume 2

Hero arrives in her usual over the top fashion

Hero and her party, Sword Saint and Sage, confronted a member of the Evil Sect. When the servant asked them how they found the sect's location, Hero dismissed it as good luck. Even after the servant transformed into a more monstrous and powerful form, Hero was still able to slay him.

Later, Hero took her Party on more Adventures and wanted to head to the Western Frontier to enjoy their upcoming Harvest Festival. When she heard her Party Members mention an Adventurer taking care the Goblin threat in the Frontier, Hero made sure to remind her Party the dangers of Goblins when they are left unchecked. With that, her friends agreed with her and all three agreed to head to the Frontier.

Goblin Slayer Volume 3

Hero reunites with Goblin Slayer

Hero came across Goblin Slayer setting up traps, and briefly interrogated him, while also remarking on his strange choice of equipment. After judging that he wouldn't be a problem, she ran off, much to the annoyance of her party.

When Goblin Slayer's party was battling Dark Elf, Hero's party worked with Sword Maiden to enter the astral plane and kill the hundred-handed giant Hecatoncheir before it could be summoned to the physical plane. After taking a brief moment to reminisce on the festival, Hero killed Hecatoncheir with Sun Burst.

Goblin Slayer Volume 4

Note: Events in this Volume occur before the events of Volume 3.

After waking up, Hero told her companions that she experienced a premonition of a storm of chaos forming over a town during the festival. When the group deduced that the location was a specific town in the frontier, Hero exclaimed that location would be where their next adventure would be.

Goblin Slayer Volume 6

In the Plane of Annihilation, Hero used her holy sword to disintegrate the evil spirits in front of her with one powerful slash. After she and her party returned to the normal world, Hero observed a village being built and thought about what could have been if she had grown up as a regular village girl or a typical adventurer. She then ran off to the village to ask where they were, which turned out to be the adventurer's training ground.

Goblin Slayer Volume 7

Doom...no seriously

When the gates to Hell opened, Hero's party was there to intercept the oncoming Demons and close the gate. While Sage worked to seal the gate, Hero slaughtered demon after demon with her spells and holy sword. Eventually, Hero came face to face with a giant spider creature and vanquished it with a critical hit.

Goblin Slayer Volume 8

Even Heroes get punished sometimes

Having been called by The King, Hero makes an abrupt entrance to his council of advisers. Upon being informed of a meteorite that fell onto the holy mountain, Hero correctly guessed that she was assigned to investigate it. Before setting off, she asks the attending Gold-ranked padfoot to tell her the rest of the story about one of his adventures.

She and the party discovered that a lump of darkness had latched onto the meteorite, and was set on expanding itself. After seeing a goblin corpse fall onto the mountaintop, Hero resolves that since a goblin hunter was doing his part, they'd better do theirs. With her sacred sword, she produces an explosion of sun that destroys the lump.

Goblin Slayer Volume 9

Once she was informed that the Demon Lord's forces were involved, Hero and her party went and eliminated them. While she and her party were being escorted by Wizard Boy and Rhea Fighter, they came across Rookie Warrior, Apprentice Cleric and Harefolk Hunter, whom had recently dealt the Ice Witch's forces. Happy that the rookies accomplished such a hard quest, Hero congratulated them and even congratulated Rookie Warrior for creating his "Harem Party" telling he needs to keep them safe, much to his confusion and Apprentice Cleric's mortification.

Goblin Slayer Volume 10

Hero disguised as "Spear Girl"

While in her civilian disguise of "Spear Girl", Hero met up with Spearman who came to her about rather strange and extremely coincidental happenings around the Frontier, the Earth Mother's vineyard, and a shady Water Town Wine Merchant that couldn't be ignored. Thanks to this information, Heavy Warrior informing Sword Maiden, and Goblin Slayer finding a large Undead mound, Hero was roused to take action with her Party revealing a massive conspiracy from the Forces of Chaos.

Hero led a coordinated attack alongside her Party with all the other Frontier Parties; taking on the world ending threat as usual while the other Parties dealt with the Undead on other fronts.

Goblin Slayer Volume 12

During the summer, after many other Parties had completed small tasks, their successes led to Hero being able to leader her Party in battle against an Undead King. Though the battle is harsh and pushes her and her Party to the limit, Hero is able to land the final blow against the Undead King and saved the world from the impending Undead Invasion.

Goblin Slayer Volume 13

What World Ending threat must we face now?

During the Winter, the Western Frontier Town created a Practice Dungeon for rookie Adventurers so that they can get a taste of the Adventuring life before signing up in Spring. Hero and her Party came to the Practice Dungeon in disguise in order to enter the Mountain the Practice Dungeon was attached to in order to battle the monstrous Sorcerer's Apprentice hidden within the mountain.

During the day of the Event, Hero and her Party ran into The Princess who they recruited as their Priest in order to have some back up. Together, Hero led her Party and the Princess to the Apprentice, who had long since lost his mind and she ended him once and for all.

Abilities

Hero eliminates minions of the Demon Lord in one blow

Hero is a powerful adventurer with exceptional skills and abilities. She is able to effortlessly kill powerful minions of the Demon Lord, along with the Demon Lord himself.

• Agility: Hero is able to perform airborne somersaults to deliver powerful attacks and quickly dodge enemy attacks.

Equipment

• Holy Sword: Found on her first adventure, this sword functions as Hero's primary weapon. It can deliver powerful attacks on its own or act as a conduit for her spells. By owning the sword, it establishes Hero's legendary status.

Spells

• Firebolt: An offensive spell which Hero can cast several times.
• Sun Burst: The spell she uses to kill Hecatoncheir.

Trivia

• In Goblin Slayer: Another Adventure Nightmare Feast, Hero (in her Spear Girl disguise) is called "Conan", whether this is her real name or another alias of hers in unknown.

• In the light novel, some chapters focusing on Hero are narrated by the latter, instead of the usual third person perspective. This is to establish Hero as the "main protagonist" within the world of Goblin Slayer.
• When the series began on an online textboard, Hero's placeholder designs were that of Haruhi Suzumiya and Najimi Ajimu.
• In one of the illustrations in the seventh light novel, Hero strikes a pose identical to the one done by Doom Slayer on Doom's cover art.
