Full Summary[]
Goblin Slayer learns his special assignment from Guild Girl has nothing to do with slaying goblins. After she convinces him of the importance of his rank and her trust in him, Goblin Slayer agrees to be an observer for a promotion interview along with her and an Inspector.
The interview is for the rhea scout of a larger party seeking to be promoted. Guild Girl notices the scout wearing new armor and boots, which he says were paid for by his family. Inspector catches him in a lie by using the Sense Lie miracle, and reveals he actually obtained the armor by secretly keeping the contents of a treasure chest while scouting for his party. He loses his composure upon being demoted to porcelain rank and thinks about attacking Guild Girl, but quickly realizes it was a bad idea with Goblin Slayer present and leaves in anger. Guild Girl thanks Goblin Slayer for his help before he leaves, but gets flustered telling him he did good work. After briefly talking about Guild Girl's decision, Inspector gets Guild Girl to admit her feelings for him right before Goblin Slayer enters the room to take a quest.
Goblin Slayer's party agree to take the quest as long as he doesn't use poison, fire or water as a weapon. The adventurers arrive at the Water Town and make their way to the Temple of the Supreme God, at which point Goblin Slayer senses the history of goblin attacks in the city. He reveals the quest giver is the Archbishop, also known as the Sword Maiden.
