- — Chapter 41's official description.
Full Summary[]
In the mountains, a noblewoman and her companions slay goblins with relative ease, after which she confidently declares a decisive victory. Knowing that they still had to take out the nest, she proudly announces that she had a plan to do so.
Sometime later as Goblin Slayer and his party travel the mountains, he reads the quest Sword Maiden addressed to him: a noblewoman left home to become an adventurer, and no word has been heard from her after she took a quest. Sword Maiden adds that the quest she took was for goblin slaying, and that the noblewoman's parents asked for the highest-ranked adventurers; Goblin Slayer was the only one she could think to help her, as hardly any high-ranking adventurers took goblin slaying quest. When the party thinks of why goblins would attack a village during the winter, they conclude that the goblins were after the resources gathered from the autumn harvest. High Elf Archer offers to fix a loose arrowhead on one of Goblin Slayer's arrows, but the latter explains that he intends for it to lodge into a goblin to spread lead poisoning throughout a nest. When Dwarf Shaman suggests that the goblins may have eaten the noblewoman rather than sustaining her life, Goblin Slayer tells them that winter is long, and that the goblins will use her to pass the time.
Once the adventurers arrive at the village, they rescue a little girl from being dragged away by a goblin. The girl informs them that the rest of the villagers went to the village square, which Goblin Slayer takes as a bad omen. On a roof, High Elf Archer counts less than twenty goblins in the village, with around six in the village square. Dwarf Shaman and Lizard Priest volunteer to handle the goblins at the square, while Goblin Slayer and Priestess go to clear the perimeter of the village. When the two stop in the middle of a crossroads, Priestess is asked to watch Goblin Slayer's back right before two goblins charge toward them.
