Full Summary[]
Goblin Slayer and Lizard Priest quickly cut down every goblin in their way. Priestess attends to the human adventurer who is badly injured casting healing magic to mend the victim's wounds. Goblin Slayer continues killing the goblins, using powder to disorient them. He notices several of the goblins fleeing towards the stairs, and calls that they are heading to the other hostages to use them as shields. High Elf Archer stops them by nailing then with her arrows, while Dwarf Shaman goes to secure the stairs.
A total of twenty three goblins are slain, in the library that once housed an order of nuns. So far only ten have survived their ordeal with their goblins captors, along with one adventurer. Lizard Priests makes the best to keep the nuns spirits high by telling that though they may worship different deities, they are still descended from lizards. Priestess attends to the injured, and one of the nuns asks about the female adventurer they saved, if she is alright. Priestess states that she will live, which relieves the nun as the girl is the reason why the rest of the survivors are still alive. The adventurer had been staying at the library, when the goblins attacked. It was because of her one of the nuns was able to escape and get help. Though Priestess feels guilty that they may have come too late. Regardless, the nun thanks Priestess from the bottom of her heart.
Goblin Slayer assesses the goblin killing, musing his disappointment that it would have been easier to set fire to the building had it not been for the hostages and books. Priestess scolds him for saying such thing, as she, would not approve. While it did take a lot work, Priestess admits that it was necessary which Goblin Slayer agrees. He asks about the other adventurer which Priestess reports that she is resting.
The adventurers prepare to rest for the night, though Lizard Priest voices his concern of how the goblins have begun to become much smarter as of late. Goblin Slayer thinks so too. Lizard Shaman's intuition tells him this strange happening has occurred since they encounter that Goblin Paladin. Goblin Slayer muses the possibility that the goblins are starting to learn. Even though he has dedicated his life to slaughtering them to prevent this from happening, it feels as if they are being used as pawns for a greater scheme.
The adventurer believes that killing the manipulator would not solve everything, thus he must come up with a better plan. Dwarf Shaman returns from the storehouse carrying a stack of tablets. He believes that the goblins were ignorant of their value. Lizard Priests examines them stating that the goblins probably mistook them for flagstones, and deduces that they are from the Age of the Gods. However, they cannot read them, but understand that they need to be be kept safe. Goblin Slayer reminds the two spellcasters to rest as they exhausted themselves when using their magic which they promise to.
High Elf Archer having conducted a sweep of the surroundings reports that there are no signs of goblins or traps. This news slightly disappoints Goblin Slayer, before he goes to wake Priestess. Priestess then prepares to cleanse the building with her new Miracle, Purify, healing the injured victims and restoring the adventurer's vitality. High Elf Archer feels refreshed after receiving the Miracle, though adds that Priestess could do with a more flashier type of magic. Though Priestess learned the magic in preparation to her friends work in hunting goblins who normally dwell in dirty locations. Still Goblin Slayer states it's a good one and tells everyone that they will be heading home.
Back at Cow Girl's farm, the girl notes that it has been two days since she last saw Goblin Slayer. She worries that one day that she may wait forever, but banishes such thoughts as she focuses on feeding her cows. Around the same time she sees Goblin Slayer who was approaching her from behind and without missing a beat greets him. As Cow Girl guides him back to the house for dinner, they make small talk, with Goblin Slayer mentioning that a wedding will be occurring.
This takes Cow Girl by surprise and learns Goblin Slayer was invited to High Elf Archer's older sister event. Goblin Slayer was told to invite Cow Girl as well. While Cow Girl is unsure if she could go, her friend will ask her uncle's permission. This brings to mind that a young Goblin Slayer once promised to marry Cow Girl, though the former does not recall such a promise. Cow Girl smiles, stating that she wished he had.
