Full Summary[]
A young woman is seen fleeing in the forest with fear on her face. Her four companions who she had been traveling with by raft, had been ambushed by goblins who threw stones atop a cliff, shattering the raft, causing the woman to become separated from her party. The woman thinks about her young female friend, hopeful she survived. Her hope turns to despair when she comes across four wooden spikes, with her companions spitted through them. The sight causes her to vomit, and soon finds herself surrounded and overpowered by a group pf goblins. One of them brings a wooden spikes, intending to impale her. They monsters laugh in glee, ignoring their victims pleas as they kill her.
Elsewhere Cow Girl and the adventurers arrives in Water Town, the bustling town leaving her amazed. Seeing Goblin Slayer unpacking the wagon, she offers to help, but the adventurer politely declines as this is part of his job and encourages her to rest and enjoy the town. Cow Girl, stands at the sides with Guild Girl who she talks to noting that this is one of the rare times they get to see their friends work. Dwarf Shaman and Lizard Priest chuckle at the added number of female companions in their group. The group having transported the tablets containing writings from the Age of the Gods, plan to deliver the dangerous artifacts to the Temple of Law for safe keeping. While the male members do that High Elf Archer declares that she will be out shopping for gifts to buy for her sister.
Goblin Slayer muses that it has been a year since he came back to Water Town, his mind dwelling if there are anymore goblins in the town. There are no of course, but the adventurer finds himself back in the area, and wishes to head upriver to the elves rather than walk to complete mission there. He notes he only took the assignment to deliver the tablets in order to cover travel costs to get to the elven forest and hoped that the goblins would try to make an attempt to reclaim the tablets. The female members of the group, go with Guild Girl to her branch office, whilst at the same time go shopping for High Elf Archer.
Goblin Slayer finds himself at the halls of the Temple of Law bringing the tablets. He attracts the attention of a priests who the adventurer explains he is there to complete a requests and asks him to tell his superior that Goblin Slayer has come. Goblin Slayer is soon welcomed by Sword Maiden. Goblin Slayer comments that things seem peaceful in the city, which Sword Maiden attributes to him and his friends, adding that they helped that girl as well even after her trauma.
The tablets are shown to her, and Sword Maiden admits that they are very old. Goblin Slayer though is only interested if they contain any information on goblins, though the archbishop cannot say. She inquires if Goblin Slayer will be returning home, but learns that his party are heading south. This is curious to Sword Maiden, as it does not seem to be related to goblins, which Goblin Slayer admits that he was invited by a friend and could not refuse. Noting his kind heart, Sword Maiden wishes him to take care when traveling by the river, informing him that several ships have been sunk and that she will pray for him.
