High Elf Archer admires a clothing Priestess bought for herself, though the clergywoman admits that she is not confident in wearing something so audacious. Guild Girl explains to Cow Girl that is cutting edge fashion with baring as much skin its appeal. Though to Cow Girl she feels its too small.
The adventurers are riding a raft on the river to their destination. The raft approaches the lock, and seeing that they have some time to kill, Lizard Priest offers his friends his stash of cheese to eat for lunch.
Goblin Slayer eats, whilst he whittles some short spears, causing Cow Girl to chide him for working as he could prepare weapons later. Goblin Slayer is just being prepared in case of an enemy attack on the river, as he is not skilled or strong enough to shoot arrows through the water nor is there a supply of slingstones on the raft.
Dwarf Shaman asks if his preparedness is due to the ships that sank, and if he thinks that they were no just accidents. While it is not safe to assume anything is accidental, Goblin Slayer suspects that it could be the work of goblins.
The female members enjoy their lunch, especially High Elf Archer finding the experience of eating in such a exotic place to be nice. The feeling is shared by Priestess. High Elf Archer admits that she felt at peace when the were at the bank in their previous adventure. And that this is her first trip riding a boat. Cow Girl becomes interested and is Guild Girl and the four women engage in girl talk.
The lock to the river opens for their raft. The raft passes and soon approaches a stone arch. High Elf Archer states that her home is just past it to Cow Girl's amazement as she stares at the landmark. The elf is smug about the geographic arch, especially to Dwarf Shaman of how the dwarves could never building something like it. Dwarf Shaman admits that the dwarves creations pale in comparison to the natural structure made by the gods, though points out that the elves did not make it either.
Lizard Priest and Goblin Slayer share some banter on threats in the area. The lizardman musing that the sea is usually home to krakens though he doubts that they will see one on the river. Thus in his opinion a threat would more likely come from above. High Elf Archer senses something amiss, readying her bow and orders Dwarf Shaman to strike the sails. Goblin Slayer orders Cow Girl and Guild Girl to get down on the raft, with Lizard Priest ushering them underneath a blanket.
The lizardman sees that the threat is up on the cliffs. Soon enough rocks begin to fall above them. Priestess casts Protection over the raft. High Elf Archer upon hearing the sound of howling, deduces that there are goblin riders on the cliffs. Using her bow and arrow, the elf manages to kill one rider, causing his body to plummet unto the raft, before being kicked off by Goblin Slayer.
Goblin Slayer brings out his spears and an atlatl which he will use to attack the goblins. For an extra measure, Dwarf Shaman casts Control Spirit over the waters around their raft. Goblin Slayer manages to down a wolf mount but laments that lucky shoots are all they can get as he cannot figure out how many goblins are on the cliff. Lizard Priests suggests that instead of slaughtering the goblins that perhaps they should focus on escaping. Such action is deemed impossible to Goblin Slayer, as he continues to throw a spear, killing another target. Though admits that they could think of this again when they are out of the ambush.
Priestess readies another miracles, when the cliffs begin raining an assortment of refuse on top of the travelers. The waters ahead of the raft is now filled with junk, and Guild Girl realizes that the goblins aim to sink the boat. Dwarf Shaman uses his magic to have the undines sweep away the debris, but it will only buy them some time. Goblin Slayer comments that the goblins are employing the use of the lock at the river against them and that they have now wandered into their nest.
