Full Summary[]
The adventurers come across a canal, filled with bodies of goblins they slayed. They note that the canal continues downstream, though can only speculate on what the goblins have planned. The voice which they were following has stopped echoing, only hastening the group to head deeper to see if there is someone in need of help. They find six some goblins, which High Elf Archer reports with her vision to be seen working with some kind of millstone. The adventurers agree they need to take them out, but find that without any cover it will be difficult. Goblin Slayer does not want to use any spells, and he only needs glue from his companions.
Goblin Slayer throw two rags of glue onto two of the goblins eyes. They are momentarily confused and some even end up laughing at the misfortune. The distraction is enough that Goblin Slayer can kill the goblin who is about to whistle out the alarm. The rest are taken care of by High Elf Archer.
Dwarf Shaman discovered an adventurer tag and wonders on who the owner was. High Elf Archer examines the millstone but recoils in disgust. Priestess does the same as she and the elf can see that the goblins were using it to crush bodies to a pulp. Goblin Slayer somberly states this was entertainment for the goblins. The picture becomes more grim as there are more belonging scattered on the ground belonging to even more victims of the goblins sadism. But after studying the millstone, they determine that the goblins are using the runoff blood to poison the water using the canal.
Goblin Slayer deduces that the enslavement of the Mokele Mubenbe hints that a spellcaster was involved, perhaps a Goblin Shaman. The adventurers decide to rest after they have given the bodies a burial by the water. High Elf Archer who is keeping watch noticed that Goblin Slayer is still awake, though he claims to be resting with one eye open. She notes that his demeanor is sour, which he attributes to the goblins that this new adventure makes their actions just like the goblins of killing them and disposing the dead. High Elf Archer rebukes him, stating that they were nothing like the goblins, warning never to compare them like the little monsters, which Goblin Slayer apologizes.
Still, High Elf Archer confesses that the presence of the goblins do bother her as they are trespassing on her home, as her sister's wedding day nears. Seeing that the elf asks her friend what their next move is, which Goblin Slayer states that they will set a trap. Goblin Slayer, having gained a sense of how the local goblins operate, believes that the highest and lowest spots of the fortress are critical to the trap. The only issue is the Mokele Mubenbe, or at least the spellcaster who controlled it. Despite the certainty, the elf is confident that with her bow they will prevail, though her friend doubts that is not all they will need, earning him a jerk from his helmet by the elf. High Elf Archer then moves away from the human to sit next to Priestess, placing a comforting hand on the young sleeping girl's shoulder.
