Full Summary[]
The adventurers begin climbing up the spiral stairs to the top of the fortress, with High Elf Archer complaining that there should be an elevator. Lizard Priest points out it would not be useful as they would still need a key to operate it.
The team find that a chunk of the stairs has been destroyed. High Elf Archer jumps the gap with a rope attached to her. Lizard Priest opts to scale the nearby wall to reach the other side of the gap, allowing Priestess to ride his back. Goblin Slayer is the last to use the rope to cross the gap, nearly tripping as he lands, but he is caught by the arm by Priestess.
High Elf Archer finds an elevator which seems to be operational. Though to use it requires a number code. Priestess has an idea to use the numbers on the key she has. The elevator accepts the code and allows the party entry inside. High Elf Archer worries it might be a trap, though Goblin Slayer that it's not simple enough for goblins to tamper with. The elevator takes the adventurers up.
While waiting to be taken up, High Elf Archer apologizes to her friends for the situation, unhappy that they have to deal with this potential disaster when she invited them to her sister’s wedding. Dwarf Shaman is first to speak, telling her that it’s no problem as they are comrades, a sentiment shared by the others.
High Elf Archer feels emotional by their support. She quickly focuses when she detects sound above them, suggesting it might be goblins. Lizard Priest then lays out a plan for Goblin Slayer to stand in front of the door of the elevator, Dwarf Shaman and him take the flanks, while Priestess and High Elf Archer take the rear.
Priestess is a bit scared of being position at the back, remembering of being ambushed by goblins on her first quest. However, Lizard Priest assures her she will be safe there, and High Elf Archer will be there with her to keep a lookout.
The elevator soon reaches the top floor, and Goblin Slayer tells his comrades to charge once the doors open. High Elf Archer suspects that the goblins may have a spell caster, so he will be a priority target. Goblin Slayer warns that goblins are tricky creatures that that if they have a spell caster and hits them with a status ailment, whoever isn't affected will be responsible to bringing the rest back to safety, otherwise they will be wiped out.
High Elf Archer realizes this is directed at her, and so when she asks if they do get wiped out, Goblin Slayer gives her a firm response of don't be wiped out. To cast no spells and only miracles. Priestess complies, casting a miracle that creates a blinding light as they adventurers ready to fight.
