Illusion (幻想) is a "sweet-natured" Goddess in the Goblin Slayer world, usually paired with a male god named Truth in their dice games to influence the fates of Adventurers.
Appearance[]
Illusion takes on the appearance of a small girl.
Personality[]
With a lively personality, Illusion takes great delight at arranging dungeons, quests and adventures for adventurers to face. She also has a tendency to focus on creating young female adventurers with a bit of a "Mary-Sue" background. This however normally doesn't work out for her adventurers as her dice rolls usually spell doom for said adventurers by Truth's machinations.
Unlike her partner Truth, Illusion takes her failures very seriously, especially when her previously mentioned terrible dice rolls spell doom for her chosen heroines; Illusion will retreat to her room to cry in her bed.[1]
Chronology[]
Goblin Slayer Volume 1[]
Illusion is playing dice that represent Priestess and her companions' fates; seeing the results she is disappointed at the adventure's outcome. Readying another roll for new Adventurers, having given up on Priestess as she knew Truth would ensure her violent end, she notices that Goblin Slayer has come to intervene and decides to see what he will do.[2]
Goblin Slayer Volume 3[]
Taking a liking to a village girl who had turned to adventuring to earn money and save her childhood sweetheart's illness, Illusion takes control of her party's fate and looked forward to turning her into a new heroine to save the boy she loved.
As she prepares her new heroine to find the herb to save her love, Illusion fumbled her dice roll, causing her new heroine to die a horrible death alongside her party by the hands of Dark Elf. Devastated, Illusion retreats to her room to cry her eyes out, blaming herself for the girl's gruesome fate.
She then hears Truth planning a new campaign with Dark Elf, one that would spell doom to anyone who went against him. Illusion wondered how to stop him.[3]
Goblin Slayer Volume 5[]
After watching Goblin Slayer's party and Noble Fencer successful defeat a nest of Goblins inhabiting an old Dwarven fortress, both Illusion and Truth celebrate the outcome. Their visible joy gets the other Greater Gods to celebrate with them.
Goblin Slayer Volume 12[]
With the help of her fellow "Generous & Merciful" Gods Life & Death, Illusion makes a brand new campaign much to their satisfaction. Truth and Abundance come over to see what is going on, but the three try to shield the campaign from them, preferring to keep their chosen Adventurers safe from their machinations.
Illusion then chose a few more Great Gods to take part in her campaign before she began the campaign.
Abilities[]
Illusion shows the power to manipulate fate; the fates she chooses usually being benevolent and kind, especially for young girl adventurers.
