Silver Blaze as she calls herself, is a Centaur Princess under the employ of Female Merchant as a racer.
Appearance[]
Silver Blaze is a beautiful Centaur woman with a silver streak in her hair. As she races she likes to dress herself in elaborate dresses.
Personality[]
A competition freak by nature, Silver Blaze is fierce in her desire to win and immediately takes to the world of competitive sports. She is such a competition freak that even when her life is in danger, she keeps herself "in the zone" so much that even monsters are left creeped out by her silence. This also gives her principles, as she refuses to just "throw a race" as she admired the women she raced against, like Lightning, too much to just not race to her fullest against them.
Chronology[]
Background[]
Silver Blaze grew up on the Plains with her tribe as Princess of her tribe along with her friends Baturu and the Centaur Waitress. However, as Centaur inheritance goes to the youngest, she, being the eldest, stood to inherit nothing. This caused her to desire to leave her tribe and become an Adventurer, so she made a deal with an Adventurer to bring her to the Guild. This Adventurer, however, was really a "Coachman", a slaver specializing in Centaurs who instead bound her to a slave contract with the stables in Water Town. Luckily, a team that was sponsored by Female Merchant who bought her contract and introduced her to the world of competitive racing, and she instantly fell in love with it, not even minding that she was technically a slave so long as they let her race.
As she raced, going by the call sign of "Silver Blaze", she managed to achieve great fame as an up-and-coming rookie with great talent. One day, however, her trainer had tried to convince her that she should throw a race, so they could make money on the gambling circuit, to which she refused. Sadly, her trainer was in a great deal of debt, so since he couldn't convince her to throw the race, he tried to cripple her which resulted in Silver Blaze kicking him in his head, killing him instantly in self-defense. Afterwards, Goblins raided the stables looking for a captive for their master the Immortal Sorcerer and kidnapped her.
Goblin Slayer Volume 15[]
Silver Blaze is rescued
Having been brought to Immortal Sorcerer's temple, Silver Blaze is stripped of her clothing and made to stand at the altar, so the Immortal Sorcerer can drain her life force. Silver Blaze, however, had put herself "in the zone" as she was mentally prepping herself for her next big race so much so that she apparently didn't notice the situation she found herself in. This rather ridiculous mindset actually worked in her favor as the Immortal Sorcerer was thrown so far off by her resilience that he kept taking his concentration off his spell to try and confront her.
Eventually, a rescue party led by Baturu and Goblin Slayer arrived to do battle with the Immortal Sorcerer and save her. Baturu managed to slay the Immortal Sorcerer and was tearfully reunited with her Princess, but she's then shocked everyone when she asked if she had missed her race. Suddenly, the Immortal Sorcerer proved his title was well-earned as he was still alive and was now using Vital Drain on Baturu to drain her of her life force instead. Now roused to save her friend, Silver Blaze worked with the Party to topple the temple on top of Immortal Sorcerer and bury him alive forever after Priestess cast Purify on Baturu, saving her.
Priestess solves Silver Blaze's case
Having returned to Water Town, the entire stadium met her safe return with thunderous applause, eagerly awaiting her arrival on the track. Before she entered the track, however, Silver Blaze was confronted by Priestess, who had been able to deduce that Silver Blaze was the one who killed her trainer and inquired as to her motives. As Silver Blaze confessed and explained her self-defense, she asked Priestess if she was going to turn her in, but was shocked to hear she would not. Instead, Priestess let her know that the Royal Investigator had already told a story about Goblins from Goblin Slayer and had accepted his story as fact. Impressed and indebted to Priestess, she promised to give both her and Goblin Slayer some of her horseshoes, of course, they'd be winning horseshoes from the race she would make to win, giving Priestess time to get back to her box seat so she could watch her race.
One of her "Winning Horseshoes" was given to Cow Girl who decided to hang it above the doorway to her and Goblin Slayer's house for luck.
Trivia[]
- Silver Blaze's call-sign and "disappearance plot" are a reference to The Adventure of Silver Blaze, one of 56 "Sherlock Holmes" short stories written by legendary author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle about the disappearance of the eponymous racehorse.
