Full Summary[]
Goblin Slayer observes goblins outside a cave while reminiscing on things his older sister told him about the hunters and his father. He approaches the cave and berates himself for his lack of foresight here concerning a lack of being able to carry a light source along with his sword and shield, cuing a flashback from his harsh training with Burglar. Opting to use a torch as his light and weapon for the time being, he enters the goblin cave and manages to kill one with the torch.
He is attacked by two other goblins from behind and unsheathes his sword, but its length makes it unwieldy, so he ends up striking a wall, thus dropping the sword. Seeing their opportunity, the goblins strike and topple him. His shield protects him, but a goblin gets on top of him in his fallen state. He flings it off and resorts to killing it unarmed, then retrieves his weapon and kills the other goblin with it. Soon, the nest descends upon him, so he opts to fight with his back to the wall to not give them another opportunity to attack from behind. He manages to defeat them, including a hobgoblin, but in the midst of thinking about what to learn from this encounter, he is stabbed in the back by a goblin he had missed. He manages to shake it off by bashing his back into the wall, at the cost of losing a horn off his helmet. After killing it, he realizes the blade was poisoned and looks through his bag for an antidote, but sees that amidst the fighting, all his potions had been smashed. Not willing to give up, he take a rag to soak up the antidote and sucks on it, saving his life.
